Dan Pasko
Founder, CEO
Risk assessment remains Dan’s lifeblood, as it has been for over 30 years. After graduating summa cum laude from UCLA in Math/Econ, Dan initially pursued a career as an actuary, quickly acquiring his ASA designation. However several years working in the insurance industry with stable funds and municipal reinvestment began to stifle him.
Fortunately, this coincided with the nascency of internet sports betting. Partnering with his Dad, Jim, he spent the better part of the next two decades exploiting weak lines in these markets, also dabbling briefly in setting prop lines for Pinnacle Sports. Their story is chronicled in an episode of the Risk of Ruin podcast “A Family Business”. In 2012 Bitcoin-based online sportsbooks started to pop up and he asked his colleague Jonathan to research Bitcoin for him. It did not take long for them to conclude that crypto would inevitably become the preferred settlement layer for both sports and online poker.
A second episode of fortunate timing befell Dan as he began to tire of the sports grind just as Defi burst onto the scene. Staying on top of Defi and all things crypto has since become his all-consuming passion.
David Tannenholz
Founder, Insomnia Crypto
David Tannenholz is a long-time believer in the transformative potential of digital assets. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science with a secondary focus in Economics from DePauw University. His career began on Wall Street in market forecasting, but he soon transitioned to professional poker—a path he pursued for over two decades.
David’s background in high-stakes poker sharpened his skills in risk assessment, game theory, and decision-making under pressure—all critical attributes in the dynamic world of crypto and DeFi. He first entered the crypto space in 2014 and has remained deeply engaged ever since.
At Insomnia Crypto, David brings a unique blend of analytical rigor, strategic vision, and real-world experience to help clients navigate the evolving digital asset landscape. He is driven by a passion for decentralization, financial empowerment, and building a future where individuals have greater control over their wealth.
Jonathan Levy
Founder, Insomnia Crypto
Jonathan Levy has been immersed in cryptocurrency since 2014, with a deep focus on decentralized finance (DeFi) since 2020. A former professional poker player and long-time strategist, he brings a sharp eye for risk, probability, and opportunity to the world of digital assets.
He has successfully managed both his own crypto holdings and those of others, helping clients navigate the space with a focus on privacy, yield, and self-custody. His work bridges the gap between technical know-how and real-world application, making complex financial tools accessible to those ready to take control of their assets.
Jonathan is the author of two books and holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University.
